Chandragiri Hill, 7 kilometers from Thankot, lies on the southwest of Kathmandu Valley and is 2551 meters from sea level. This hill is related with both Buddhist and Hindu religions. It is also related with the unification of Nepal by King Prithvi Narayan Shah as it is the historic trade route passing through Kulekhani, Chitlang, Chandragiri Pass, Thankot and inside Kathmandu before the Tribhuvan Highway was built. The Bhaleshore Mahadev temple of Lord Shiva is on top of the hill. Legend says that King Prithivi Narayan Shah worshipped in the temple before conquering the valley during his unification campaign. After reaching the top of the hill you will be greeted by scenic views of soaring peaks from different mountain ranges like Annapurna, Everest, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Jugal, Rolwaling, and Numbur of the Himalayan range of eastern Nepal and breathtaking views of whole Kathmandu Valley. Covered with lush green blanket of flora, Chandragiri is truly a great bountiful and pristine landscape. The panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley & Himalayan ranges from Annapurna to Everest makes any one feel like seeing whole Nepal from this hill.

 

Changunarayan is the ancient hindu temple which is located on top of a hill known as Changu or Dolagiri. The shrine is dedicated to Lord Visnu and is important religious site for the Hindu people. This temple is considered to be the oldest temple in the history of Nepal. The temple is surrounded by a Changu village which reflects medieval architecture of Nepal. Changunarayan is about 7 miles east of Kathmandu and a few miles north of Bhaktapur. Changunarayan Temple is named after the daughter of Kashmiri king Champak, who married to the prince of Bhaktapur. On the way to the Changunarayan temple lies Changu Museum which has the collection of ancient coins, tools, arts, architectures, collection of historical, artistic, religious, archaeological, cultural and other rare objects .And to the north of the temple lies a sculpture of Vishnu seated on a Garuda (half-man and half-bird the vehicle Vishnu) which dates back to the 9th century.

 

Nagarkot is a popular place for a sunrise view of the Himalayas including Mount Everest as well as other mountain ranges like Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Jugal, Rolwaling, and Numbur of the Himalayan range of eastern Nepal. Nagarkot also offers a panoramic view of the Kathmandu Valley. Near from Kathmandu, it is one of the best destinations for people who have short time and want to enjoy a relaxing day out from the busy city. Changu Narayan temple, the temple is located on top a hill. It is one of the oldest temples of Nepal. The village surrounding the temple offers detail view of medieval architecture of Nepal.
